Ed―since transcribing this book, I have
uncovered evidence that leads me to doubt that Isa Craig
was in fact its author. The COPAC
National, Academic, and Specialist Library Catalogue attributes
"Deepdale Vicarage"
to Isa Craig-Knox, but in her autobiography "Leaflets from My Life:
A Narrative Autobiography" (1888), Mary Kirkby claims that she and
her sister Elizabeth were joint authors of this title and also of "Mark Warren"
(see reference in the title page above). Either way, "Deepdale
Vicarage" is an enjoyable read. Several other titles in the
COPAC index attributed to Isa Craig are probably also from the pens
of one or both of the Kirby sisters. |
