HISTORY
OF THE STALYBRIDGE
GOOD INTENT
INDUSTRIAL CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY
1859-1909
At the time this book was
written, Stalybridge stood astride the Lancashire/Cheshire border
comprising part of the parish of Ashton-under-Lyne in Lancashire and
parts of the parishes of Dukinfield and Stayley in Cheshire,
so from that perspective it just qualifies for inclusion in a list
of Lancashire titles. But equally important is the fact that the
Co-operative movement is indelibly linked to the County Palatine, for
it was at
Rochdale where it all began. |
